New clients

Are you accepting new patients?

Yes. We welcome new dogs and cats. Call or text to book a first visit, and ask your previous clinic to send us your pet’s medical records before you come in.

Getting started

  1. Call or text us to book.
  2. Ask your previous clinic to send records to us by fax at (780) 715-9317, or call us for our email address.
  3. Arrive 10 minutes early to fill out a short registration form.

At the first visit, your vet will do a full exam, review your pet’s history and talk through a care plan with you.

Before your visit

What should I bring to my pet’s appointment?

Bring your pet’s previous records if we do not have them yet, a list of any medications and the food they eat, and any questions you have. Dogs should be on a leash and cats in a carrier.

  • A fresh stool sample, if we ask for one (collected within 12 hours, in a clean bag or container)
  • Photos or videos of anything unusual you have noticed at home
  • A favourite treat or towel, which can help nervous pets settle

Giving medications at home

Hiding pills in a small treat or pill pocket works for many pets. Always finish the full course of antibiotics, even if your pet seems better. If you are having trouble, call us. We can show you how or suggest another form of the medication.

Preparing for surgery

What do I need to do before my pet’s surgery?

Follow the fasting instructions we give you when you book, usually no food after 10 p.m. the night before. Drop your pet off between 7:00 and 7:30 a.m. and allow 20 minutes for paperwork.

  • Pets do not come in at the time the procedure is scheduled. All surgical patients check in first thing in the morning.
  • A $100 deposit is required to book. It goes toward your pet’s final bill.
  • Water is fine until the morning of surgery unless we tell you otherwise.
  • Give any regular medications as usual unless your vet has told you not to.
  • We will call you when your pet is awake and ready to go home, and go over home care at pick-up.

Prescription refills

How do I request a prescription refill?

Call or text us with your pet’s name and the medication you need. Please give us at least 2 business days’ notice so your vet can review and approve the refill.

  • Our vets can only prescribe for pets they have examined recently, usually within the past year. This is part of the professional rules veterinarians follow in Alberta.
  • Some medications, such as certain pain medications and sedatives, have stricter rules and may need a recheck exam first.
  • Food and preventatives can also be ordered through myVetStore.

Online store

Can I order my pet’s food and medication online?

Yes. Through our myVetStore online pharmacy, you can order food, prescription diets, treats and preventatives, and have them delivered to your home. Prescription items are approved by your vet before they ship.

Autoship lets you set up regular deliveries so you do not run out.

Payment and insurance

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, debit and cash. Payment is due at the time of your visit.

Estimates

Ask us for an estimate before any procedure. The cost depends on your pet’s size, health and what is needed on the day. If something changes during treatment, we will call you before going beyond the estimate.

Pet insurance

We work with all pet insurance providers. You pay at your visit, and we provide the invoice and medical records you need to submit your claim.

Clinic policies

What is your cancellation policy?

We ask for 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule. Cancellations with less notice, and missed appointments, are charged a non-refundable fee equal to a regular exam.

These policies help our team give timely care to every pet and make good use of appointment times.

  • Arrival: please arrive 10 minutes before your appointment. If you arrive late, we may need to reschedule.
  • Late cancellations: a non-refundable fee equal to the exam fee is added at the time of cancellation and must be paid before further services.
  • No-shows: a missed appointment without notice is charged a fee equal to a regular exam. It must be paid before booking again or purchasing food.
  • Surgery deposits: a $100 deposit is required to book surgery. If the surgery is missed without notice, the deposit is not refunded.

Frequently asked questions

Do you see exotic pets?

We see dogs and cats. If you have a rabbit, bird or reptile, call us and we can suggest where to go.

Do you take walk-ins?
